Hanasaari – Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre
Hanasaari is an enchanting place in the midst of the archipelago, close to Helsinki city centre. Hanasaari is a well-known, reliable meeting place with a top-quality in-house restaurant and a maritime hotel – all under the same roof.
PLEASE NOTE: We strongly recommend that you make your hotel and travel arrangements as early as possible since the European Athletics Championships take place in Helsinki from 27 June to 1 July.
How to get to Hanasaari
Hanasaari Cultural Centre is located on the Baltic shore close to the Helsinki-Espoo border. It can be reached easily by several buses from downtown Helsinki. When arriving directly from Helsinki-Vantaa airport, the easiest way is to take a taxi.
Take the Finnair City bus (6,20 EUR) from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport to the City Terminal by the Railway Station or bus 615 to the Railway Station (4,50 EUR). On request, the Finnair City bus stops at the bus stop near Hotel Arthur (details). From the Railway Station you can take tram 3T or the metro to Hostel Academica (details) (2,70 EUR).
The Hanasaari Cultural Centre can be reached from Helsinki by the local Espoo bus nos. 102 - 190 and services to westerly destinations such as Kirkkonummi, Inkoo and Hanko. The Espoo buses leave from platforms 42 - 55 at Kamppi, Helsinki central bus station. The trip takes approximately 10 minutes. The “Hanasaari” bus stop is located about 400 metres from the Cultural Centre. Please be aware that bus stops are on request only, so please inform the driver that you wish to get off at the Hanasaari Cultural Center.

Trips from Helsinki airport to the Hanasaari Cultural Centre cost 37 EUR (yellow taxis with several stops) or about 50 EUR (regular taxis). The taxi journey to the centre of Helsinki takes nearly half an hour and costs about 35-40 EUR.
Hanasaari is right next to the main Länsiväylä road ("the Westway", route 51), a little to the West of the NJK yachting club harbour in Koivusaari and to the East of Karhusaari and Tapiola in Espoo. The Cultural Centre can be reached by car from a local junction on the Westway, lying midway between Lauttasaari and the Ring I / Tapiola intersection. At the junction, you will see bus stops and a signpost indicating “Hanasaari” (the GPS co-ordinates for the junction are N60º10.0 E24º50.6).
The Cultural Centre is located approximately 6 kilometres to the West of Helsinki.
From the West: Approach Helsinki on the Westway (route 51) and follow the signpost at the Hanasaari junction.
From the North (e.g. from Helsinki Vantaa airport): Approach Helsinki and turn off at Ring I westbound. Follow the ring road to the Westway (route 51), and then drive towards Helsinki Centre. The signpost for Hanasaari is about one kilometre after the Ring I/Westway intersection.
